Meet the Amazing Amanda

My name is Amanda, and I’m the baby sister of the Nix9to5 blogger you’ve grown to love.  I am a licensed civil engineer, a mother of 2 young boys, a runner, an activity director and event planner, a chef, a wife to the perfect husband…  Wait. Let me start over.

My name is Amanda, and I am…..average.  I am a stay-at-home an on-the-go mom with too little time, too little patience, too few skills, too much to do, and more blessings than I deserve.

I set my civil engineering status to “inactive” when I became a mother at the end of 2006, as I have had the privilege to stay home and raise my boys.  I am a totally sporadic runner/exerciser, and when I do find time to go for a jog, my pace is mediocre, at best.  I’m asked by a 4-yr old, every night, “So what’re we doing tomorrow,” and I find myself anxious and stressed as I try to decide what I should plan and do.  My meals typically come straight from a recipe – I’m not adventurous enough or clever enough to devise my own meals or steer far from the recipe, at least.  I do have the perfect husband…for me….Absolutely perfect for me! (He is an amazing man that has put up with me through hormonal phases and too little sleep and too much talking.  And he still loves me and says sweet things to me and thanks me for what I do from time to time!  (What a man!))

I am not trained in the ways of mothering or educating or entertaining or cooking.  Everything I do is a trial run.  Some things work, some things don’t.  I don’t know what I’m doing.  At all.  But, I love my family and couldn’t imagine anyone else getting to do my job.  This is mine, all mine!!

I am a real, average, mediocre, everyday mom, lucky enough to make my family and home my career, for now.  Every day is a challenge adventure blessing!

Nicci’s Note:  Can I just add that the picture above is NOT from some magazine shoot, but is a Real Live Actual Picture of my sister?  I know, right?  You can seethe with jealousy if you want to.  I am.
